Give your attention to the micro screen The greatest invention the world has seen It gives you power, you’re the star of the show Makes you think you’re someone everyone should know But the screen is the star and we are the crowd Screaming for attention cuz we’re loud and proud It’s fun, it’s addictive and it’s made to last Gotta keep us engaged or we’ll fire it fast Our inaction A distraction From interaction Elsewhere Watch your attraction to the micro screen The greatest distraction the world has seen Its come for your money, its come for your home Its come for everything that you’ve ever known And the more that you give it, the more it will take The owners of that screen have a lot at stake Their algorithm never tires, eats, sleeps or quits Tracking your existence bit by bit And the data goes out to God knows where Cataloged, processed, sold and stored in the air But you get on board or you get left behind It’s full throttle forward, no stop or rewind Submission With Our Permission For Transmission Anywhere We’ve been integrated by the micro screen The greatest index the world has seen We’re all connected like never before At the same time we’re edging towards the brink of war The fight for our attention A system of control Directs us to abandon The life and world we know Rapid fire feedback – your lives have been hacked Time is finite – you don’t get it back Crush your addiction to the micro screen The greatest deception the world has seen No more reaction Or dissatisfaction We must take action Everywhere

about

Conflict One Zero, the electronic rock solo project of composer/drummer Dan Hegarty (Cliff ‘Em All/Cobra Venom/Naju), will release its second EP, "Battleground,” on Friday November 30th. While exploring the ambivalent relationship between humanity and technology, "Battleground" expands on the industrial/video game soundtrack sound from C1Z’s first EP, "Activate," incorporating both male and female vocals for the first time.

“The first Conflict One Zero release was something that I’d been piecing together for years,” says Dan. “I had written plenty of music but most of it didn’t quite fit in with the bands where I was playing the drums. All of the strongest material ended up on Activate. That was my first attempt at making all the music for a record – not just providing the drums. This time, I decided to raise the bar again and give this sound a voice. At first, it was just my own voice but I’ve also always been a fan of electronic and rock music with female vocals as well as male vocals. I wasn’t going to get that result without some help. Luckily, I know some very skilled ladies who were down to contribute to the next chapter of Conflict One Zero.”

Singer/songwriter VK Lynne from the band The Spider Accomplice is featured on "Rapid Fire," an aggressive hybrid of industrial rock, drum n' bass and New York hardcore (think KMFDM meets Roni Size and Sick Of It All), which was released as Conflict One Zero’s leadoff single for Battleground. Alexx Calise, a solo artist who also fronts the band Batfarm, appears on the dark, atmospheric and brutal duet, "The Light Burns Out," which channels Velvet Acid Christ and early Nine Inch Nails. "The Arena" and "Tombs" are both instrumentals that expand the sonic palette of C1Z, incorporating classical instruments, film score elements, and new atmospheric electronics in addition to the heavier sounds from Activate.

Fans of metal, punk, hardcore, drum n' bass, electronic, trip hop, goth, industrial, film score and video game music will find a crossroads of these genres in Conflict One Zero's Battleground. The EP will be available on November 30th across all digital platforms.
